Shrek the Musical

Shrek

Over the weekend, Carlisle Theater Arts students performed “Shrek the Musical."

The characters in Shrek were so believable and the casting was perfect for every cast member. Shrek (Austyn Benton) did a spectacular job as the grumpy, I want to be alone Ogre. Princess Fiona (Presley Goodloe) was the perfect princess for this role. She was beautiful, posied, and a little sassy and spunky when needed. Donkey (Ashton Pelfery) should win an Academy Award for his performance. The humor he displayed had the audience laughing and wanting more with every scene. Ashton put a little Eddie Murphy in his performance and it was fun to watch. Lord Farqyaad (Matthew Harrison) was the perfect person for his role. He was a true villain with arrogance and a desire for power, during every act. His sinister evil attitude was portrayed perfectly.

As the audience watched the show, the thought came to me, this is allowing us to go back in time to our childhood, with the Fairy Tale Creatures, Pinchollo, The 3 Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Tinkerbell and many more. We have heard stories of the Fairy Tale creatures and over the weekend, we actually saw them all together on stage.

Directors, Quentin and Mackenzie Hammock, truly directed one of the biggest and best musicals Carlisle's theater program has performed. Thank you to both of them for their hard work and dedication to the theater arts in Carlisle.
