Carlisle High School

Principal's Message

Dave Slamer     Principal

Dear CHS parents/guardians,

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!  It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of  introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Carlisle High School.  With all of the changes taking place within the district and community, I am honored to lead CHS into the next chapter!  I will be entering my 14th year in education and 6th as a building level administrator.  I spent 8 years as a high school social studies teacher/coach/adviser.  Previously to coming to Carlisle, my administrative experience included serving 1 year as a middle school assistant principal and 4 years as a middle school principal in the Edgewood City School District.  I greatly valued my time at the middle school level and how it helped me grow as a professional.  I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Carlisle High School and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will make it a top priority to develop strong working relationships with parents, students and community partners.  We will focus on whole child development through various outlets including our new PBIS program and character education initiatives.  PBIS, which stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, is designed to create a system of social inclusion of all students.  We will focus on the growth of positive and meaningful interactions between students, staff, and the community.  Eventually, we will grow our program to include multiple levels of support designed to address all needs.  In addition to PBIS, we will continue to develop our curriculum, use date to drive our teaching and building level decisions, and present material in a way that meets the needs of our learners in an effort to continually increase achievement of all students.

All of us at Carlisle High School are eager and excited to begin the 2019-20 school year.  We will continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.  As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be in our building.  This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.  My door is always open and I welcome your input.  Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.

I look forward to working with you as a team to help each student at CHS meet their goals and have a successful school year!

     Yours in Education,

     Dave Slamer
