COVID and Your Child's Attendance

Posted on: November 19, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We wanted to give a quick update on quarantine/isolation and how it relates to attendance. Some of you have received truancy letters for your student that was triggered by the fact they have missed as a result of a quarantine or isolation. We want to assure everyone that no student or parent will face any consequences as a result of a quarantine or isolation mandated by the school or department of health. While the students are having the absences entered into our system, they are not being held against them, even though it may seem that way. The state of Ohio still requires us to track the hours students are in school and that is why the letters are being triggered as students are being quarantined. However, we want to reiterate, no student or parent will face any truancy issues as a result of a quarantine or isolation.

While a student is quarantined or isolated, it is important they keep up with their in assignments through Google classroom. Teachers will be posting all of their required assignments via classroom and students are expected to complete their work while out. Students should be aware of due dates and follow them accordingly. We understand that all situations when it comes to Covid and quarantine/isolation are different. Please make sure your student is communicating any issues with the school via email, phone, Google classroom, or Remind.
