Outstanding Overall Performance of Beauty and the Beast.

As you may or may not know, the Carlisle Theatrical Arts program is a part of the Dayton Area Tony Awards (DayTony’s). There are 14 participating schools in the Miami Valley. We are among schools such as Springboro, Centerville, The Miami Valley School, Franklin, and Chaminade Julienne to name a few. Please keep in mind this is our first year participating in the DayTony program.

Awards are based on scores that are tabulated from adjudicator ballots. From there, a cut score is determined for Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence. We attended the awards ceremony last night at Sinclair. Our program won awards in every area except two, for a total of 14 awards! Here is a list of awards we received:

Award of Merit:

Scene Design – Leslie Hood, Tom Whitesell, Mike Richardson, Craig Harris

Direction – Leslie Hood

Leading Role in a Musical – Luke Baker, Brittani Richardson

Ensemble of Beauty and the Beast

Award of Excellence:

Props – Kim Harris

Sound Design – Quentin Hammock

Music Direction – Jenn Shively

Supporting Role in a Musical – Taylor Reed, Chris Hudson, Christa Harris

Leading Role in a Musical – Jessica Tompkins, Kyler Spradlin

We also were 1 of 5 schools to receive a special recognition for Outstanding Overall Performance of Beauty and the Beast.

We are SO happy to share this news with you! Thank you for supporting our program. We hope to continue this tradition and keep bringing home that hardware.  - Jen Shively & Leslie Hood
