Welcome Back! We are still facing the COVID pandemic and there are still several guidelines that will be in place this school year to keep our student and staff safe. Please review the guidelines below, we appreciate your cooperation and understanding while we still navigate this pandemic.

Daily at Home Health Checks

  • Check your child’s temperature everyday even if they do not feel sick. Their temperature must be less than 100 degrees.
  • Check your child daily for COVID symptoms or other illness symptoms; they must stay at home if they have any symptoms.
  • Do not send your child to school after they have been given fever reducing medications. They can return if they do not have a fever for 24 hours without medication.

Important health information related to COVID-19

  • If your student has been tested for COVID-19, they may not return to school until the results are back.
  • If anyone in the household is tested for COVID-19, the entire household including siblings should remain at home until the test results are back. A copy of the results are needed to return to school.
  • If you have a child test positive for COVID-19, please call the district school nurse to report it and follow the guidance of isolation/quarantine set by the health department (7-14 days).
  • Students must stay home anytime they are sick.
    • This includes but is not limited to Fever greater than 100.0, vomiting, diarrhea, severe headache, new onset or worsening cough, sore throat, new onset loss of taste or smell, repeated shaking or chills or muscle pain.

 Return to school guidelines

  • Students must be fever free (without fever reducing medications) for 24 hours.
  • If you have a doctor’s note, a diagnosis of illness is helpful to track and monitor illness during the school year.
  • If your child was tested for COVID, we need a copy of the results prior to the return to school.
  • All students returning from illness will be checked by the nurse prior to going to class.

COVID contact tracing and positive cases

Upon notification of a positive case, contact tracing begins with classroom, bus and lunchroom seating charts. A list is complied, and dates are established for those identified students. Parents of quarantined students are then notified; this is a long and detailed process. Parents will be notified by the end of the school day if their child is affected from a positive case. A few reminders that will help make the process run efficiently.

  • Please refrain from calling to see if your child is affected, allow the nurses time to call you.
  • Ensure contact numbers are accurate for your child.
  • Your child’s teacher is notified of the dates your child is quarantined and will work with you regarding missed work.
  • Questions related to missed educational work should be directed to the student’s teacher and/or principal if needed.
  • All positive cases and quarantine numbers are listed on the school website, this is updated regularly.

Up to date information

Please always make sure that your child’s teacher and the school office have current emergency contact numbers. We cannot keep students at school with high fevers; have a plan in place in case your child becomes sick at school. This is vital to keeping all illness under control.

Mask wearing

It is optional to all students and staff in the school building. The bus drivers and students on the bus are required to wear them during transportation.  Students that are wearing masks may not have to quarantine.

Quarantine Guidelines

These are still in effect for this year, if there is a positive case identified, contact tracing will occur and affected students will be required to quarantine. The quarantine guidelines can be found on the district website.

COVID Vaccinations

If your student has been vaccinated for COVID-19 you must provide documentation to the school. This will be required if you student is considered a close contact from a positive case. Fully vaccinated student will not have to quarantine.

The district employs a full-time licensed school nurse Rebecca Baker, RN MSN and a full-time clinic nurse Erica Brown RN, BSN. There will be a nurse in the district from 7a.m.-3:30p.m., Monday-Friday. All concerns related to COVID should be directed to the nursing staff.
