Mr. Larry R. Hook, former Assistant Superintendent of the Springboro City School District, has been selected by the Board of Education as the new Superintendent of Carlisle Local Schools. Mr. Hook replaces Mike Griffith who will be retiring this fall and has accepted a position with the Warren County Educational Service Center.
Mr. Hook’s educational career has spanned the public secondary level as well as the college and university levels. He has taught Microbiology, Genetics, Bioecology, Biology, Exercise Physiology, and a variety of Physical Education courses. Additionally, Mr. Hook is an adjunct professor at the University of Dayton, where he teaches graduate level courses in School Finance, School Law, and Staff Personnel. He has been a Head Football and Head Track Coach at the high school and collegiate levels, as well as being an Assistant Athletic Director, Assistant High School Principal, Junior High Principal, High School Principal and Assistant Superintendent.
Mr. Hook received his Bachelor’s degree from Central University of Iowa where he was a four year starter and an All-Conference center on the 1974 National Championship Football Team. He received his Master’s degree and additional post-graduate work from Xavier University and has earned his Superintendent’s certification with the Ohio Department of Education. In 1994, Mr. Hook was selected by his former students for induction into “Who’s Who Among American Teachers.” Mr. Hook is married to Paula, and has 5 children, Nicole, Aaron, Lindsee, Hayden, and Haylee. Besides spending time with his family, Mr. Hook enjoys running and is an avid scuba diver.
