McAtee Receives Congressional Recommendation

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 1st District of Ohio, Congressman Chabot is permitted just five appointees to each of the following service academies: U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point. For each of those coveted vacancies, only 10 persons may be nominated by Chabot.

In order to receive a nomination, candidates must meet the following requirements as of July 1st in the year of academy admission:
•  At least 17 years of age, and no older than 23
•  A U.S. citizen
•  Unmarried, not pregnant, and not responsible for the legal support of children/other dependents
•  Must live within the district they are seeking nomination from
•  Be able to meet the requirements of the academy in areas of medical, physical, and academic

Along with the completed application packet to request nomination from Congressman Chabot, candidates must submit the following (according to Chabot’s website: 
•  Current photo
•  High school transcript
•  American College Testing Program (ACT) results and/or College Board Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) results
•  An essay stating what motivates you to attend a service academy (500-700 words)
•  Minimum of three letters of recommendation

McAtee was awarded his nomination on December 29, 2016. He is now awaiting the outcome of the application process to West Point; an answer he should hear in early to mid-spring.
